DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED BY TEACHERS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is a very difficult time for all, including for the country's education. In order for teaching and learning not to suffer worse damage, education had to be reinvented in various aspects, with the goal of continuing to fulfill well its role, which is to build knowledge. In this context, the goal of this study was to analyze the difficulties encountered by teachers of physical education in administering their lessons during this turbulent period. The study deals with an exploratory research using a quantitative and cross-sectional approach A questionnaire was administered to 22 teachers, of both sexes ages 30 to 53 years. The recruitment of those evaluated was by means of the snowball technique. The data collected was tabulated with mean values by means of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program. The results indicated that the main difficulties encountered by the physical education teachers were inadequate space, lack of pedagogical materials, resistance by the students to the practicals, and the lack of interest in physical education Thus, it is concluded that many factors are harmfulfor the good development of the teaching learning process, and new strategies that optimize the quality and efficiency of teaching are necessary.
