Objective: To carry out a case study about the actions and results of the implementation of the Breastfeeding and Feeding Brazil Strategy (EAAB) in a Brazilian city, comparing these data between units that received or not received the workshops of this strategy, and reflect on the effectiveness of this program to increase adherence to exclusive breastfeeding. Method: Quantitative descriptive case study, through data collection and structured interviews, answered by health professionals from six family health teams. Results: A higher prevalence of breastfeeding was identified in children assisted by teams that did not participate in the EAAB workshop. Through the interview, it was observed that these teams met most of the EAAB certification criteria, presenting positive factors for increasing adherence to exclusive breastfeeding. Final considerations: Considering the implementation of EAAB in the city studied, it is noted that exclusive breastfeeding adherence rates were higher in units that had not participated in any workshop of this strategy and even with these differences the general average of exclusive breastfeeding in recent years in this city was greater than that of the state, region and country itself.
