AS PERCEPÇÕES DE GÊNERO, O ACOLHIMENTO INSTITUCIONAL DE CRIANÇAS E O SERVIÇO SOCIAL

UM ESTUDO A PARTIR DO MUNICÍPIO DE PONTA GROSSA

Abstract

Gender inequality is an element that must be considered when faced with the reality of institutionaly sheltered children regarding the family context of these children and the social roles of men and women in the family. This is a qualitative study of a descriptive and exploratory nature, built from bibliographic research, document review and the experiences of a social service intern at the Vara da Infância e Juventude in Ponta Grossa and a researcher on the subject of gender. This article is the result of research carried out for the Course Completion Work of one of the authors and its main objective is to present how gender issues are expressed in the process of institutional care for children in the municipality of Ponta Grossa/PR. The main results obtained showed that the gender condition is related to the motivators that generate institutional care for children, although not explicitly, but the data demonstrate that gender inequality is present in this process. The overload of women in domestic and child care is a factor that draws attention to this process, in addition to the family history that reflects the repetition of violence in families, women who also experienced abandonment, neglect and violence in their childhood, end up reproducing with their children and, in the face of this reality, the importance of social service actions in combating the violation of children's and women's rights is recognized and promoting actions and services that meet the demands of the guarantees of rights.
