The text presented here seeks to understand the printing strike of the newspaper O Amazonas, especially its context, and the emergence of the newspaper A União, its meaning and characteristics. Regarding the sources used in the research, we used, in a central way, the workers' press, especially the newspaper A Lucta Social, which recorded and took a position on the strike in question. And, of course, A União, which emerged at the hands of the fired strikers and served as an instrument for formulating social criticism and denunciations aimed at employers, especially the owners of the newspaper O Amazonas.
