ITINERÁRIOS DE UMA TRAVESSIA MELANCÓLICA NA CONTEMPORANEIDADE E DO RETORNO À CASA PORTUGUESA PELO EXILADO DA TERRA EM UMA VIAGEM À ÍNDIA, DE GONÇALO M. TAVARES

Abstract

This article aims to discuss memory as ritual and melancholy in the contemporary literature of Gonçalo M. Tavares entitled A voyage to India, as well as identifying in the intricacies of the text the paradox between the crossing and the confrontation, the discovery of an exit door in solution of the traveler Bloom's enigma and the creation of a hero in reverse. Bloom commits the crime of killing his own father and, therefore, this is the reason why he continues his journey. “Seek the water that will wash him from his irredeemable crime.” Furthermore, Tavares' text presents an intertextual dialogue with the work Os Lusíadas, by Luiz Vaz de Camões and one of the points of dissonance between them is revealed in the history of Portugal that Camões' text portrays and, on the other hand, in that of Tavares describes the personal story of Bloom, the central character. To this end, the following authors are used: Eduardo Lourenço (2010), Vitor Manuel de Aguiar e Silva (1974), Carlos Reis (2004), among others.
