This article explores the process of intellectual formation of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). The objective is to present the main literary and philosophical “sources” known and used by him throughout the writing of his works, especially The Divine comedy. The investigation unfolds from research into the readings and mentors that marked the writer's trajectory, from childhood to his death in exile.
